2006 Warranty Info
Date of Purchase: 1/11/2005 to 31/10/2006
IMPORTANT:
If you think you have a warranty claim, it is important you follow the proper procedure. In the first instance you must contact the Orange dealer from where you purchased your bike. They will assist you with any queries you may have.
A FEW WORDS TO THE WISE
Orange Mountain Bikes are proud of the quality of our bikes. Each model is designed and built for a specific discipline from full-on Downhill or Freeriding to Ultralight Cross Country trail riding. We know that as someone who has purchased and Orange bike you must be pretty smart, so you’ll know that as with any extreme sport, Mountain Biking has its dangers. You’ll know that wearing the correct protective equipment makes a lot of sense. The same goes for your bike. Care for it and it will take care of you.
While our bikes are built tough enough to withstand the rigours of some pretty hefty riding, use your common sense, everything is going to break at some point. If you make a habit of throwing yourself off some outrageous drops, then one day something’s got to give. Make sure that you regularly inspect and maintain your bike properly to minimise these risks. It’s called ‘Useful Product Lifecycle’. So bear in mind that competitive events, trick riding, ramp riding, jumping, aggressive riding, riding on severe terrain, riding in severe climates, riding with heavy loads, commercial activities and other types of nonstandard use can dramatically shorten the useful product life cycle of an Orange mountain bike or frameset. Any one or a combination of these conditions may result in an unpredictable failure of an Orange Mountain Bike or frameset that would not be covered by this warranty.
While we are surrounded by magazines and videos full of images of pro riders in full flight, remember these guys (and girls) have practiced, trained, learned, (and mosltly been patched up on occasion) with relentless dedication to get to the top. Just because you’ve got the bike, don’t expect to emulate them on day 1 without that same dedication. Basically what we’re advising here is that you ride to you limits and not beyond them. That way both you and your bike stand a high chance of staying in one piece and improving your bike handling skills and level of enjoyment.
Some Orange models feature adjustable geometry (eg: Patriot, 224) It is extremely important that you follow the factory guidlines when making geometry adjustments, if you get it wrong, it is highly likely that you will damage the frame. This isn’t good for us or you, and we’re afraid Orange will not warranty damage caused in such a way. As we already noted, you’re smart so this is unlikely to happen, hey?
Hopefully, this also means that you proabably realise that Orange Bikes are unlikely to warranty a frame which has had ‘user’ modifications. You would be right, we won’t. This includes removing parts of the frame, welding and filling the frame with cavity foam.
In the interests of safety Orange Bikes recommend that All Orange Mountain Bikes and framesets should be periodically checked by an authorised Orange dealer, for indicators of stress and/or potential failure, including cracks, deformation, corrosion, paint peeling, dents and any other indicators of potential problems, inappropriate use, or abuse. These are important safety checks and very important to help prevent accidents, bodily injury to the rider and shortened useful product life cycle of a Orange Mountain Bikes bicycle or frameset.
ORANGE MOUNTAIN BIKES LIMITED WARRANTY
Orange Mountain Bikes Limited warrants each new Orange bicycle frame, rigid fork (if fitted) and Orange components against defects in workmanship and materials for the following periods from the purchase date of the original owner.
All suspension forks, rear shocks (if fitted) and components (other than those made by Orange) shall be covered by the stated warranty of their manufacturer.
This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of a defective frame, fork or component part and is the sole remedy of the warranty.
In the event that a frame is replaced under the terms of this warranty, the new component will be warrantied for the remaining period of the original purchase date warranty.
This warranty applies only to a bicycle purchased from a retailer
authorised by Orange Mountain Bikes Limited.
The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, improper assembly
(such as crossed bottom bracket threads and flared head tubes),
poor maintenance or installation of parts and accessories not
originally intended for, or compatible with the bicycle as sold.
Specifically the fitting of suspension forks with travel longer
than the recommended maximum, as shown in the table below
will invalidate this warranty.
The warranty does not apply to damage or failure due to accident,
abuse, collision impact (e.g. flared headtube) or neglect.
The warranty excludes competition use.
Orange Mountain Bikes Limited shall not be responsible for incidental
or consequential damages.
Claims under this warranty are to be made through an authorised
Orange dealer. The complete bicycle must be returned to Orange
Mountain Bikes Limited via the authorised Orange dealer to allow
inspection of all the components and parts. Proof of purchase
is required and a warranty registration card (see opposite) must
have been received by Orange Mountain Bikes Limited before warranty
claims can be processed.
This limited warranty does not apply to damage caused by collision,
crashing, trick riding, riding with heavy loads, commercial activities,
or any similar activities or misuse; such uses may damage the
bicycle, can cause serious injury to the rider, and in all cases
will void this warranty.
This limited warranty does not take the place of any legal and contractual rights between the dealer and the owner. In the event of a problem the owner should contact the dealer in the first instance.
