Hang on, a P7 with snapped dropouts! What's going on?
We pride ourselves on the rideability and reliability of Orange bikes. To have a P7 linked to any kind of a failure is a shock to us as much as anyone else. We would have liked What Mountain Bike to have given us the opportunity to check this out before publishing the review so that we could have investigated the problem. Needless to say, we got straight onto this as soon as we became aware of the issue (when the mag hit our doormat!). We build the P7 to be ultra tough, so what went wrong? The answer is that when the review bike was built for the What Mountain BIke review, the wrong bolts were used to fix the adjustable drop-outs. We have to put our hands up and say "Our bad!". As we all know, there is no 'I' in 'Team' - but look hard enough and you can find a 'me'! The 'me' in this case was our Chip, the builder of said bike. We've sent Chip back to bolt school and he'll be making the Team Tea for quite a while yet. But ultimately this was a one off. Chip's bike building skills are second to none, but we all occasionally slip up and in this case we did. The upshot is we completely and utterly stand by the reliability of our bike, so rest assured you're in good hands |
